HAMPERS FOR THE BESOM IN CAMBRIDGE
We were delighted to be able to support The Besom initiative for the first time this year. We managed to send 15 Christmas hampers to The Besom in Cambridge by the 17th December deadline. Each hamper contained items to make Christmas special for either a single man, lady or family, all of whom were found to be local people in great need.
The Besom in Cambridge began operations in late 2016 and is one of a growing number of Besom centres throughout Britain. It aims to make a bridge between local people in dire need and God’s church. There are many ways in which members and groups from Cambridge churches get involved and make a genuine, lasting difference to people’s lives. There is never fundraising or requests; support is raised simply by prayer for God’s provision. [The name ‘Besom’ derives from a broom made of twigs – hence Besom’s strapline of ‘sweep away suffering’.]
