Due to recent Covid 19 restrictions we are unable to hold the planned service to mark Remembrance Sunday. The advice we have received indicates that people should not congregate in public areas. However, individuals may still wish to pay their respects at the memorial in the churchyard, as long as social distancing is observed.
Wreaths will be laid by representatives of relevant organisations and a bell will be tolled in honour of each of the service personnel named on the war memorial. The words of the Act of Remembrance and a prayer for peace have been attached to the war memorial – this will be removed after Remembrance Sunday. A copy of this document has also been placed in the side chapel in church for use in private prayer.
At 11.00am on Sunday you may wish to stand in front of your house and observe the usual period of silence and then listen to the tolling of the bell as a personal act of remembrance.
“They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old: age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.”
